As a compliment to our highly efficient mixers, we have developed a proprietary needle valve that protrudes through a coupling or bleed ring into the flow stream and seals at the tip of the valve. This unique valve is able to precisely control a flow rate down to 1 cc per minute while maintaining a high velocity at the valve tip. This feature prevents upstream diffusion and mixing which is essential when adding small quantities of a precipitating agent upstream of a static mixer. Standard designs are available, and custom designs for unique requirements are easily accomplished.
High flow velocity is the key
In order to prevent upstream diffusion and plugging inside the valve, a high flow velocity must be maintained at the point of mixing even when the flow rate is ultra small (1 cc per minute). This valve achieves this while also providing nearly bubble tight shut-off by using a soft seat. The valve retains its robust resistance to damage due to needle overtightening because the needle has a metal travel stop separate from the seat.
